If you haven't read the lovely Megan's Thumbelina Lillie blog, then I think it's time you come out from that rock you've been hiding under. Her blog has a little bit of everything, from beauty, to fashion, to lifestyle - what's not to love? With an incredibly adorable style, damn girl I want those bow sandals you own, and a collection of dresses to die for, she's one of my favourite reads. I've had the pleasure of meeting Megan a number of times (hooray for the North East Bloggers!) and I can safely say she's just as lovely in person.
What was it that made you want to start your own blog?
I'd been reading blogs for around a year and had felt inspired by so many. When I began my gap year in 2012 I thought it'd be the perfect chance to start my own blog. It was a bit shaky at the start but as my audience and confidence grew I finally began to feel like I'd found my niche. I'd never felt like I'd found something I was good at, or that I 100% enjoyed doing... until I started my blog. Now my blog is my baby!
Any blogs that inspired you in particular? Who are your favourites?
The first fashion blog I started reading was Lucy's blog, Lulutrixabelle. I loved (and still love) how she puts her outfits together and how she clearly doesn't give a crap about what people think. Her style is just flawless. As for beauty I've always been a daily reader of Lily's blog, What I Heart Today. Her short and sweets posts are ideal for on the bus to University yet her writing just captivates me. I have so many favourites it's hard to choose! I'm currently loving Gh0st Parties, Talking About M, Fashion Influx and The Girl In The Bowler Hat... of course!
What have been your blogging highlights so far?
Apart from meeting so many amazing bloggers, it'd have to be being shortlisted in the Best New Beauty Blog category in the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2013. Wow... Just wow. I can't even begin to explain how amazed and grateful I am for that. It's absolutely insane and it still doesn't feel real.
How would you describe your style?
Oh god! Erm, I'm a sucker for cute dresses. I don't think I could put a name to how I dress... People always say I look like a little doll when I wear my hair in a bow, so lets go with that! Dolly!
I have style icons but I don't necessarily look to imitate their style. I love Alexa Chung as I feel like she's never really had a bad outfit. My biggest style icon is probably Jenn Im who's probably most known by her YouTube channel 'Clothes Encounters'. I'm absolutely mesmerised by her style and how she can pull anything and everything off.
Are there any current trends that are particularly inspiring you this season?
I'm glad tartan is making a comeback as it's such a timeless print. But I've never been one to follow and stick to trends and stuff. If I like something I'll buy it and wear it, even if it'd be frowned upon by the Fashion World.
I'd head straight to ASOS! They stock so many amazing brands such as MinkPink and Evil Twin that I'd probably end up spending way over £100! I think all their stock is reasonably priced too... As much as I used to love Topshop, nowadays when I go in I pick something up that I like but just can't justify the pricetag!
And finally, imagine your house was on fire - nightmare! What 5 pieces of clothing/accessories/shoes would you choose to save and why?
Probably both my pair of Jeffrey Campbells and my three favourite ROMWE dresses! If it was possible I'd wear them for the rest of my life without being an 'outfit repeater' ha!
