First things first, I’d like to apologise for my blog posts being a bit here and there recently. If you follow me on social media, I’ve been feeling rather down about it all and quite honestly, came very very close to just closing it down completely. I fell out of love with blogging and writing posts have been a real struggle for me. I think I’ve lost my way a little and my blog has become a place I’m no longer excited about and that’s something I need to work on. I have a few more lifestyle posts coming up, but in May I’m really going to be focussing on more fashion/style content and go back to my roots. Fashion has always been my thing so I’d love my content to be more focussed on that for a little while and see how it goes – let me know what you think!

Now, onto the outfit. Living the freelance life, I’m not sure how much money I have on a day to day basis, so my shopping habits have had to change a lot recently. I can’t always buy into the new trends (although I have an ASOS saved items page that goes on for days) and sales really are my best friend. It’s fun though as it challenges me to way things in different ways and I’m really enjoying playing around with different combinations – I especially love how this one has come together. I’d like to think I’m pretty good when it comes to hunting the best pieces out in sales and I think I’ve done well with this outfit – not one item wasn’t reduced WOO YEAH. From my bargain H&M hat which cost me less than a coffee (£2) to this biker-style denim jacket I found in M&S sale last winter (that I put to the back of my wardrobe for now) and these dusty pink pointed flats that I found in an M&S clearance market stall for a quarter of the price, these are easily some of my best finds in a long time. Not to mention this incredible high-neck white blouse which I found in my local Topshop sale a few weeks ago – I’d never seen it in store before, but there was one just randomly in the wrong sale rail in my size. Fate? I think so. I have a thing for high-neck ruffle blouses right now (someone bought the two blouses from a certain M&S collab last week… oops) as I just love how they add that hint of femininity to an outfit. Plus you can never have too many white blouses can you? (answer: the limit does not exist).

MY TOP TIPS FOR A TOP SPRING CLEAN

HN Spring Detox

As someone who works from home, I find it very important that my surroundings are kept clean and tidy as well as being a rather calming environment. All of the furniture in my room is white which design-wise I love, but when it comes to cleaning, a whole lot of dusting is involved. Like I swear, dust can appear within minutes! So whilst I do tend to clean my room on a daily basis, I’m a huge advocate of giving my room a big Spring clean and a whole refresh. I recently posted a few simple tips and tricks when it comes to decorating a room for Spring on a budget, but when I was contacted by House Network in connection with their Spring Detox – I thought I’d share with you some of my tips for a Spring clean.

– First things first, whenever I’m tidying my room I always do it bit by bit. It’s easy to be tempted to move everything out of your room to get it out of the way, but chances are (if you’re like me) you’ll get fed up half way through and end up putting everything back where you last had it leaving it all a bit of a waste. So to combat this I do a corner of my room at a time, maybe a corner of my room for each day and it makes the whole task feel a lot less overwhelming!

– Quite like when I sort out my wardrobe, if I’m sorting out books/DVDs/etc I tend to put everything into three piles – the things I use and want to keep, the things I’m not sure about and the things that I’m happy to give away to charity. Chances are, the things that I’m feeling uncertain about are things I’ve not used for months and are just gathering dust – and if so, I’ll move them over to the charity pile. But if I’m struggling to decide, I’ll put those things aside for a week or so – if I don’t think about them, or use them, or find a place for them, then they go. Simple as really!

– As someone who tends to be rather sentimental, I normally keep a hold of everything that has a memory attached to it – whether that be a good one or a bad one. It’s a real awful habit of mine but I often struggle to let go of negative events that have happened in the past and I often hang on to those feelings attached to them. It’s something I’m working on, but something that has really helped has been getting rid of items which remind me of things I need to let go of.

– Once I’ve chosen everything that I want to keep, I’ll then start putting things back on the shelves, one by one. It can take a little time to arrange things how I like, but often I find things looking cluttered and if so, I begin the process again of sorting out the three piles based on what items I’m left with.

What are your top tips when it comes to spring cleaning?

Outfit Details: Top – Urban Outfitters, Coat – Topshop (similar), Jeans – Topshop, Shoes – c/o Cloggs, Hat – M&S; (similar)

Hello, my name is Amy and I quite clearly have a problem with leopard print clothing right now.

Following on from Friday’s post, there seems to be a little theme going on with my wardrobe at present and I can’t stop picking up printed pieces. This coat was actually a gift for Christmas after spotting it go on sale at a crazy price a few days prior. I’d been toying with the idea of getting one for a while and when I spotted this one I couldn’t resist – it’s swing coat shape is my absolute favourite cut. It’s not as warm as it looks (these photographs were taken when it was -1 outside with ice everywhere so things were a little chilly…) but needless to say it’ll take me happily into Spring. I thought it was going to be a tricky one to style, however, I love how it’s just slotted nicely into my existing wardrobe like it was meant to be.

I was kindly sent these Black Hi-Top Converse from the lovely people over at Cloggs a few weeks ago, and there’s been attached to my feet pretty much every day since. When I was 13/14 I was a little emo kid (P!ATD fan girl, forever) with skinny jeans, band tees and Converse being my uniform, so I’m totally smitten to have my hands on another pair. I’d forgotten just how comfy they are. I love wearing them with this pair of cropped kick flare jeans I picked up in Topshop sale on Christmas Eve. I’ve somehow managed to lose weight over Christmas so these fit me perfectly and nip me in in all of the right place and I’m already eyeing up the other colours. They seem to be in sale in some stores so keep an eye out! (And if you spot any blue ones, let me know)

Of course, I couldn’t help but go back to my emo roots and reach for my nearest motif tee, this A initial t-shirt was my first choice. I never thought a t-shirt could be flattering but I was so wrong, who knew!? This whole outfit in general takes me back to my gig days which hold some of the best memories (apart from the 12 hours spent queuing in the cold…). So the temptation to whack out the eyeliner is very real whenever I’m wearing it..! Of course it wouldn’t be an outfit of mine without a hat and I have a new one this time. Move over fedoras, I’m all about the berets at the moment. Admittedly it often takes me about 10 attempts just to get the hat on right, but you know, you just gotta do these things, right?

I’m super happy to be back photographing my outfits again, they’re one of my favourite posts to do but weather and anxiety haven’t been on my side the past few months or so making it really difficult for me to just leave the house some days. However, I have many more planned so hopefully they’ll be up very very soon!

So does anyone else have that piece of clothing that brings back lots of memories?
