Last week, myself and a few other North East bloggers were invited along by the lovely team at BareMinerals to our very own bloggers event. We were greeted with drinks and nibbles (I’m talking party rings over here, OH YES) and given a little time to take photographs and generally just have a nose around before taking to our seats. The event was primarily to introduce us to the brand, and in particular their newest release – the Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel, but more on that later. The MUAs did that thing and demonstrated how the newest releases work, applying their products onto a client and I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say we were sold.

I’ll admit I had reservations at first, with the idea of sheer coverage absolutely terrifying me (I’m definitely more of a full coverage kinda gal) but I have been swayed and can’t wait to give the product a go myself. It’s a product described as somewhere in-between a BB creme, a CC creme and a tinted moisturiser, but with a slight twist – it’s actually formulated with the reverse technology of your typical tinted moisturiser. So basically, it has all the benefits of all of those products in one. Now what does this mean? Mineral infused water which is injected with the pigments, offering some coverage and ensuring your skin is much more hydrated (and within a week of use, you’ll notice a big difference!). It also contains Mineral Electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium which will help to improve the skins texture, as well as Marine Botanicals which help to lock in moisture. With all of this in mind, I was keen to give it a swatch and the first thing I noticed is that it gives a cooling sensation after application, which leaves the skin feeling fresh and plumped for the day ahead – certainly something I personally look for in bases. You can apply the product with your fingertips or their new Smoothing Face Brush, which gives a nice airbrushed finish (trust me, it’s pretty magic!). It can be used on it’s own to balance out skin tone, or if you like a little more coverage like me, under any foundation and will leave you with a dewy finish perfect for these summer months. What more could you want? Oh, and did I forget to mention it has a mineral SPF 30, which means none of that pesky flashback and blocked pores? Perfect!

We also had a little play with their other products, such as the lipsticks (I already have a few on my wishlist… oops) and blushers. As someone relatively new to the brand having only tried their eyeshadows in the past, the staff were incredibly informative and willing to tell us all about each and every product. I learnt a lot about the brand on a whole and I can certainly see myself visiting their counter in the very near future. We were all very kindly gifted a rather generous goodie bag filled with things to try, all which I’m very excited to try out – reviews coming soon!

All in all, it was a lovely event with the staff making me and the others feel very welcomed. If you’re based in the North East (or are just visiting Newcastle), if you pop along to the counter in Fenwick Newcastle and quote my blog name, you’ll receive a free sample of Complexion Rescue Gel! Plus, they’re now offering girlfriend parties, which allow you to sit down with a member of the staff and talk through all things make-up and skincare, they’ll help direct you to which products will work best for you and your preferences. So basically, it’s just a free chance for a good pamper and hour long talk about make-up, what else could you ask for?!
